36 Weeks!

We are 36 weeks today.  In some ways the time has flown by, and in others it seems like forever!  I know we haven't been updating much, we are bad bloggers.  The only excuse I can offer, is that we have been blessed with a fairly uneventful pregnancy and our updates would only have consisted of, yep. . . everything looks good and right on track.  No too exciting.  Now we have some cool things to share, along with some pictures!

I have been making things for Eliza.  I blame it on Pintrest.

During the hospital tour part of our birth class we learned that they have hooks on the door so we can hang a wreath, or some decoration celebrating the baby's birth.  So, of course I came right home and browsed Pintrest looking for ideas.  My little Eliza needs to have a wreath on her door!  Her visitors need to be able to find her!   So this is my creation.  When she arrives, you all will know what to look for on the door.

Pintrest (and my awesome new sewing machine) is also responsible for this car seat cover.

and these pillow cases
Might be silly, but I had read several places to bring your own pillow to the hospital with a recognizable pillow case.  I always bring my own pillow when I sleep somewhere other than my own bed anyway, so I knew I would be taking one to the hospital.  What can be more recognizable then ones I make myself.  Obviously the purple one is mine, and the pirate one is for J.  He needs his own pillow too, I think.

We finished up Eliza's nursery this weekend.  It looks awesome!   The design idea was created by her beautiful and talented Aunt Chenelle, and painted by her wonderful Uncle Tyler.

We still have a wall shelf to hang, and pictures and whatnot to hang on the wall, but all the big things are in.   The quilt on her crib is my first quilt, and the blanket on the rocking chair is from her great aunt Debbie.  We still have to get her fish tank set up, but that is J's project.

We were given an awesome shower by J's family at the end of April.
Eliza received lots of awesome gifts, we are truly thankful and appreciative of everything!  Now, we are just waiting.  Waiting on our little girl to make her big world debut, so we can finally meet her.  Hopefully, our next update is complete with pictures of a newborn!

The Downhill Slide

Today we are 21 weeks and 6 days. We have passed the halfway point and are on the downhill slide!
The message from the inside is:
Our 20 Week ultrasound went pretty well!  Baby Girl Pierce is measuring right on target and weighed around 13oz. (give or a take a few of course!)  She is starting to wiggle around inside and responds to music sometimes.  She seems to like Broadway Tunes.  She is most active when we play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.  (and even more so if Jason or I am singing along)  I fear she is already destined to be a little on the nerdy side.  (Which is perfect, she'll fit right in!)  I think she learned how to do, what I can only guess to be, somersaults yesterday.  Thankfully she only used my bladder as a jumping off point a few times.  It sure felt strange though!

Other than that things are fine, she keeps on growing and growing and so does the belly!  J got out his camera and photography toys the other night to see if we could recreate any of the cool maternity/belly pictures we had seen on the internet.  So, since we haven't had a belly update in a while . . . here is what we came up with:
One in color
And an artsy-fartsy one in black and white
Well, until next time!!

Is it Little Boy Pierce or Little Girl Pierce?

We had an exciting baby day today.  We are 17 weeks 5 days and went in for a gender determination ultrasound at Baby Belly Spa. I know everyone reading this is wanting me to cut to the chase and tell them the outcome of the scan, but that wouldn’t be as much fun would it?  What made this day most special is that all of the baby’s grandparents joined us for the appointment.  We all arrived a little early and waited for our appointment time.  After a short wait were called back into the ultrasound room which was very roomy and posh.  They had comfortable couches and chairs and a large T.V. so everyone had a good view of Little One.  The Ultrasound Tech started out doing scan of Little One’s face and body, and turned on the speaker so we could all hear the baby’s heartbeat, which was a wonderful sounding 140 beats per minute.   We watched the little legs and arms moving, and even saw Little One sucking on a thumb.  ( Can I just interject here that it is very hard to talk about someone without saying him or her?)

The Tech continued to show us the baby and even turned on the 4D view so we could get a better view of the face.  Little One was being camera shy like Lindsey and kept putting both hands in front of its face.  After the Tech turned the scan back over to the black and white 2D mode, we got to see the legs and feet and just watched the movement on the screen.  We were able to pick out some pictures from the session and sent some home with the Grandparents to put on their refrigerators.  After the scan we all went out to lunch at Old Chicago and watched the first half of the UK/Tennessee basketball game before heading off for other adventures.
By the way, we actually found out the sex of Little One right after hearing the heartbeat, but I wanted to wait till the end of this post to announce that Little One Pierce is now known as Little Girl Pierce!!!!!!

Until next time,
J

Week 13 and Counting . . .

Greetings and welcome to our baby blog!
We decided this would be the best way to keep anyone interested in Pierce baby news properly updated.  We plan on notifying everyone via a Facebook post with a link to the blog, so no one misses out on information they want (On the flip side, no one has to be inundated with information if they don’t want it).  We understand that we have a lot of excited family and friends who would want all updates all the time.  However, we have decided that we are going to be conscious of information we put out. We would like to keep in minds and hearts, friends and family who may be in different stages of their dream family journey.  With that being said . . . Onto the (short) update!
Today brings us up to 13 weeks and 4 days!  We had an appointment last week (12 weeks and 4 days) and got to hear the heart beat on the doppler.  Little One’s heart rate was 145!  Amy, the PA at the Dr office, said that the heartbeat sounded great and was right where it should be. (normal range being 130-160)

So here we are at 13 weeks.  Not much of belly yet!

We go back on the 30th for a follow up, so probably no ultrasound pictures, but we may try and put up a belly shot.  Maybe . . . if the belly looks any different by then!
Until next time, everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
